National Mental Health Month

National Mental Health Month

May is National Mental Health Month. Mental health is just as important as physical health. Many research studies have shown that when people receive appropriate mental health care, their use of medical services declines. Make sure that you and your loved ones are receiving the proper mental health care.

National Stroke Awareness Month

May is National Stroke Awareness Month. Every 40 seconds, someone in the United States has a stroke. Recognizing the warning signs can mean the difference between life and death or between full recovery and permanent disability. Think “FAST” to help you quickly remember stroke signs and symptoms. If you suspect someone is having a stroke, go through the following steps:
F – Face. Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?
A – Arms. Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
S – Speech. Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred or strange?
T – Time. If you observe any of these signs, call 9-1-1 immediately.
