Whitefoord Inc. Health Services

School-based Pediatric Health Care

Regular check-ups are important for the health and well-being of children. We treat chronic and acute illnesses common to children and adolescents, provide health screenings and all immunizations for children up to age 18. We also offer sports physicals upon request. Referrals are made from this area to the dentist, behavioral health team, health educator or other specialist as needed. Each year students and children in the community receive dental, vision and hearing screenings. The school-based health centers are operated in partnership with Emory University and are staffed with a pediatrician, dentist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, licensed practical nurse, and medical assistants. Ancillary staff includes a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Master level social worker, and health educator. Fee for services are based on income and no one is turned away due to inability to pay. Medicaid, Peach Care and most private insurances are accepted.

Our school-based health centers are open to families and individuals throughout Metro Atlanta!

 Behavioral Health Services

Our highly qualified, licensed clinical staff offers a variety of confidential behavioral health services including individual, group and family counseling, advocacy, crisis intervention, case management, and medication and treatment management, and linkages to community support services.

Our behavioral health services are provided primarily to students serviced by  the school-based health centers, but are also open to the general public, adults and children, regardless of residence, race, religion, gender or income. Health Education

Our Health Education component is designed to help children, adolescents, and adults improve their health, by increasing their knowledge and influencing their attitudes and behaviors. A professionally trained Health Educator is on staff and works in partnership with our neighborhood schools to implement sequential health education curriculum that is culturally and developmentally appropriate to address behavioral outcomes that promote healthy eating and physical activity. Health education is integral to the mission of schools, providing students with the knowledge and skills they need to become successful learners and healthy adults. Adult patients referred by our physicians are able to receive individualized health education, nutrition instruction, and support.

Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and tripled in adolescents in the past 30 years. To combat this major health risk, we offer a comprehensive fitness program with quality physical education and physical fitness as the cornerstones. There is no charge for our fitness program.

Community health fairs, seminars and health promotion events are held throughout the year and open to the public.
