The new health insurance marketplace lets Georgians shop in one place to compare all their health coverage options and find accurate information about different plans, including what each plan covers and how much it costs.  Make comparisons based on your personal needs before selecting the right plan for you and your family.

APPLY AND ENROLL ONLINE

Individuals, families, and small businesses can enroll online and get the latest, most accurate information at healthcare.gov or CuidadoDeSalud.gov.  You and your family may be eligible for Medicaid, PeachCare, or premium tax credit to help you pay the monthly premium costs.  There is one simple application for everything.

GET HELP FROM THE CALL CENTER

Consumers can also call the automated toll-free call center 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 800-318-2596 to speak with a trained customer service representative.  Consumers who don’t speak English can get help in more than 150 languages.  TTY/TDD users should call 855-889-4325.

Did you know you can still apply and enroll in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) aka Obamacare through Special Enrollment Period (SEP)? If you experience a life event such as:

  •   Loss of health coverage
  •  Change in income 
  • Change in household size (got married, had a baby etc)
  • Relocation out of state.

Open enrollment for 2016 healthcare plans has ended but do you know you can still apply and enroll in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) aka Obamacare through Special Enrollment Period (SEP)? If you experience a life event such as:

·         Loss of health coverage

·         Change in income

·         Change in household size (got married, had a baby etc.)

·         Relocation out of state.

Next Open Enrollment begins in November 1, 2016 through January 31, 2017.

WHAT DOCUMENTS OR INFORMATION DO I NEED TO APPLY?

Social Security numbers for all applicants including children

Birth dates for all applicants including children

Document numbers for legal immigrants

Employer and income information for every member of your household who needs coverage such as pay stubs, W-2 forms, or Wage and Tax Statements

Policy numbers for any current health insurance plans covering you and your family

Information about any health insurance plans you and your family could access from your employer.  Use the Employer Coverage Tool form to help you collect information for every employer-based plan for which you and your family are eligible.  You need to fill this out even if you opt out of employer-based insurance.  The form can be found at: healthcare.gov/downloads/ECT_Application_508_130615.pdf

 

DO I HAVE TO BUY INSURANCE?

The new federal law requires everyone over age 18 to have health insurance or pay a penalty, unless:

You already receive Medicaid or Medicare

You are a US Citizen living in a foreign country

You are incarcerated

You have an exemption

 

You may qualify for an exemption from the tax penalty in certain cases.  More information can be found at healthcare.gov/exemptions
