Bike Rite Program

Whitefoord Inc. works to connect health and education in the community in many ways. The summer Bike Rite Program promotes physical health through bicycling while also supporting academic achievement in a safe, supportive and encouraging environment. Students in grades six through twelve are accepted into this program with a referral from their school.

To promote academic success, participants receive homework instruction, tutoring, and mentoring. For life beyond the classroom, participants take part in workshops on drug and violence prevention, general health education, and life skills. To develop character, students learn the importance of investing their time and energy in giving back to the community. Community service activities currently include neighborhood clean-up projects.

Each student receives a bike helmet as part of the program and can take part in biking excursions to local points of interest like Stone Mountain Park, Centennial Park, and the colleges at Atlanta University Center.

Our staff monitors the progress of each student, and meets regularly with parents, teachers, and counselors to ensure that students’ academic and social are being met. Last school year, 100% of the students in Bike Rite received a passing conduct grade and had no disciplinary actions.
